INTRODUCTION TO MEDICARE

Medicare is a health insurance program created by the U. S. Government and administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Original Medicare has two parts: Part A, which covers the hospital and Part B, which covers doctors and medically necessary services.

For many seniors, Medicare can be so confusing that they have a difficult time understanding what they need to know about their health coverage under the program and the important optional supplement plans that go with it.

This website was developed to help seniors who are:

  • about to turn 65
  • over 65 and are losing their group employer health insurance
  • on Social Security Disability (SSI), or who have some form of Medicare supplemental coverage and wish to look at their options during the Medicare open enrollment.

The following pages are educational in purpose and will help you learn the facts you need to fully understand before making a decision about which options are best suited for your particular specific needs.
